I'm a bookkeeper, though ask me what I actually do and I'll probably need more than one sentence, because that title only tells you part of the story. Day to day, I'm the one keeping the numbers honest, the payroll on time, and the compliance boxes ticked.
I'm the quiet one in the office; you're more likely to catch me quietly working through a reconciliation than chatting at the water cooler, though I don't mind the occasional bit of small talk. But stick around long enough, and you'll learn I've got a quick, witty comeback loaded at all times. What I care about most in this job is trust. People are relying on me to get their pay right, to keep the company's finances in order, and to flag anything that needs attention before it becomes a problem, and there's something satisfying about a spreadsheet that balances perfectly or a compliance checklist with every box ticked.
When I'm not doing magic with numbers, I love to colour, crochet, and build puzzles, usually with an audiobook playing in the background. I'm most in my element with a project on the go, whether that's a half-finished blanket, a puzzle taking over the dining table, or a colouring page I've somehow convinced myself is nearly done. When I'm not listening to an audiobook, I'm probably watching a crime or detective series, working out whodunnit before the characters do, or the occasional sappy romance when I need something lighter.
I've also got 2 fur babies at home who supervise most of these activities, whether I ask for their opinion or not.
